4 Types of Luck πŸ€ πŸ€ πŸ€

And How You Can Get Luckier!

Ever feel like getting rich is pure luck? Like winning the lottery? Investor Navi Ravikant says forget that. He thinks anyone can build wealth by becoming someone who attracts good fortune. In other words, you can make your own luck!

Marc Andreessen in their blog post defined luck in broadly 4 terms. We'll explore these four types and how to boost them:

1. Plain Old Luck: You Can't Control It, But You Can Bounce Back

This is like winning the lottery. Totally random. This is out of your control and more often than not can’t be replicated.

2. Hustle Up Luck: The More You Move, the More You Find

This is about getting active. The more projects you try, the more people you meet, the more chances you have to stumble into something great. it’s about trying a 100 different things till something clicks. Imagine shaking a soda can - the more you shake it, the more likely it is to fizz over with opportunity!

3. Luck by Knowing Your Stuff: Spot the Good Stuff Before Everyone Else

Their third is becoming very good at spotting luck/opportunities. You become an expert in your field and when something exponential(lucky break) happens like using AI to solve for some very tedious task you are at the forefront it is easier to see such lucky breaks that others might miss.

4. Be So Unique, Luck Finds You: Become an Opportunity Magnet

Now, this is the coolest type of luck. It's about building a one-of-a-kind personality, brand, or way of thinking that draws good things your way. Imagine being the world's best deep-sea diver. Someone finds a sunken treasure ship? They'll need your skills, turning that random find into your lucky opportunity!

The person who got lucky by finding the treasure chest, that was blind luck. But them coming to you and asking you to extract it and having to give you half, that’s not luck.

You created your own luck. You put yourself in a position to be able to capitalize on that luck.

From Luck to Destiny: Building Yourself for Long-Term Wins

Ravikant says that by consistently building your character and reputation, luck starts to feel more like something you control. People known for being trustworthy and reliable will find opportunities coming their way because they've become the "go-to" person for certain situations.

The more you put yourself out there and keep trying, the less likely you are to just have bad luck. By constantly working on your skills, building your network, and exploring new ideas, you'll eventually reach a point where your efforts pave the way for success, no matter what random chance throws your way.

Break Free from the Clock: Owning Your Success

While some luck is inevitable, true wealth creation comes from things beyond just trading your time for money. Owning a part of a business (like a bakery!) or creating products that make you money even when you're sleeping (like a song you wrote!) are ways to achieve financial freedom and escape the limitations of a paycheck.

So, ditch the lottery dreams. Focus on the types of luck you can build: hustle, knowledge, and being one-of-a-kind. By taking action, developing your skills, and putting yourself in the right spot, you can seriously boost your chances of building long-term wealth and reaching your financial goals.
